Publika.az reports with reference to Telegraf.com that this was said by collector and researcher Ruslan Huseynov.

He said that the length of tumans in Yerevan clothes was one inch above the ankle.

“If in Shamakhi or Karabakh, a bafta or shahbasan was sewn to the skirt of the district – these are Kant names – in Iravan clothing, it was seen in four or five rows.

In their outerwear, nimtan was used underneath, and bahari or kulacha was used on top. Bahari is a simple type of garment decorated with laces on the edge, it looks just like a bahari, it differs in small details and the edge is decorated with fur. This is an outerwear that is mostly worn in winter.

All these clothes are similar to each other, they differ only in small details. I will show you two photos, you will say that they both look alike. But they can be distinguished from each other by the lines there. Baku nimtane is shorter than Zangezur nimtane. In all cases, these are all common Azerbaijani clothes, but they have been slightly deformed due to our regions, and they have made them their own.”

Ruslan Huseynov said that there are more than 4,000 exhibits of museum importance in the collection.

“70 percent covers textiles, and the other 30 percent includes jewelry and household items. In our collection there are about 400 non-repeating cups. The oldest one dates back to the 18th century. We have only a part of it. Kalayagi is a work created by several artists. In general, the national costumes of Azerbaijan are a philosophy from head to toe.”

It should be noted that the Public Union “Women’s Consensus Center” is implementing the project “Promotion of Azerbaijan’s national costumes – from tradition to the future” with the financial support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
