President Lula (PT, right in the photo) declared on Tuesday the 23rd that the dispute for the command of the city of São Paulo will be between him and Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
“In the capital Sao Paulo it is something very special. A direct confrontation between the former president and the current president is between me and the figure (sic)”the PT MP said in a radio interview Metropolisfrom Bahia, without mentioning the name of Bolsonaro.
“The dispute is between a government that puts people first, to try to solve their problems, and the government of fake news, of disaster, which does not believe in the normal things that humanity must believe. It will be this dispute that will take place.”He added.
Lula as Boulos’ electoral leader
In December 2023, Lula began working as an electoral activist for federal deputy Guilherme Boulos (Psol-SP), bringing the parliamentarian on stage at a house handover ceremony under the Minha Casa Minha Vida program in the east of the capital of Sao Paulo. At the event, Boulos called the PT member “the best president Brazil has ever had.”
Lula also actively participated in the attempt to convince former mayor Marta Suplicy to leave the administration of Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and return to the PT to run for Boulos’ vice-presidency.
Will Jair Bolsonaro support Ricardo Nunes?
The mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, said in an interview with a radio station in the capital of Sao Paulo that the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, assured him of the support of former president Jair Bolsonaro for his campaign for re-election in the capital of Sao Paulo.

This Monday, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), who has already formalized support for Nunes’ candidacy in the capital of São Paulo, also indicated that the former president will support the emedebist.
“We are building a broad front with Nunes. This is passed on to President Jair Bolsonaro. The president has always appreciated Ricardo. I believe he will be together”the governor said.
