Lukashenko reveals a detail of the location of Russian Oreshnik missiles in Belarus

The Russian Oreshnik missile systems will not remain in a single place in Belarus, as detailed this Monday by the president of the nation, Alexander Lukashenko, reports the local agency Belta.

«It is a mobile complex, it will never remain in one place. It will patrol certain points and, from a specific point, [podrá si es necesario] launch an attack,” he noted.

Likewise, the head of state pointed out that, from Washington, they claim to be unaware of the existence of nuclear weapons in the republic, adding “they should continue thinking like that.” «We do not say how much, where, how […] It’s in a safe place. What’s more, we have revised it again, we have taken it to Russia, we have revised it and we have returned the most modern version of tactical nuclear weapons. We cannot reveal all this, and not so much for our people, but for them [en el extranjero]he stressed.

Previously, the Belarusian Presidency announced that the Oreshnik systems will be put into active service in the country in December of this year.

What is the Oreshnik like?

Oreshnik is a novel Russian intermediate-range ballistic missile capable of hitting its targets at a hypersonic speed of Mach 10, which is equivalent to almost three kilometers per second.

The power of a massive attack with the Oreshnik can be equivalent to that of a nuclear attack: everything in the epicenter of the explosion is divided into fractions and turns into dust. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, “there is no possibility of shooting down these missiles,” whose range reaches up to 5,500 km.

At the end of last year, the future deployment of Oreshnik systems in Belarus was announced. In September, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov stated that Belarus is forced to deploy the missile system on its territory to ensure its security, as the West “trampled” on international security principles. “We had no choice,” he emphasized, adding that Minsk is not participating in an arms race or provoking a confrontation.
