Luis Robles is transferred to the correctional camp of Prison 1580

Havana Cuba. – Cuban political prisoner Luis Robles Elizástigui, sentenced to five years in prison in 2021 for demonstrating with a sign on San Rafael Boulevard, was transferred to the correctional camp known as “El 18”, from Prison 1580, on December 7. February.

His mother, Yindra Elizástigui Jardines, informed CubaNet that the young man is now in a more welcoming camp than Zona Cero, adjacent to the Combinado del Este maximum security prison, where he had been transferred after moving to a minimum severity regime at the end of last December.

“He says that compared to the other [Zona Cero] here he feels a little more rested; It will be because of the idea, as he says, that he is not in the Eastern Combine. For me none [campamento] It is cozy, but compared to the other it is another view,” he said.

Elizástigui Jardines assured that he had spoken with the leaders of the new camp about his son’s health. According to what he said, they told him that they had already contacted the doctor, the same one who had treated him at the Combinado del Este. “He knows my son’s situation, even though the medical history he brought about him does not reflect anything about his hemorrhoids or his allergies,” he said.

The reason for the transfer, as he explained, would be because Ground Zero needs fit inmates in good health to carry out correctional work, conditions that are not met by Robles Elizástigui, who suffers from several pathologies.

For the mother of the political prisoner, punished for the alleged crimes of enemy propaganda and disobedience, the transfer of the young man to a camp is “an opportunity” for him to enjoy visits to his home and, above all, “a big step” on the way to his parole.
