This weekend, the new season of the Latvian and Estonian Rally Championship will begin with the Alūksne rally, where 88 crews from nine countries will take to the road.
Die-hard fans of the rally must have noticed that the fast Estonian driver Timu Korge, who last season became champion of his class in both Latvia and Estonia, is not among the participants this year.

Already at the closing event of the 2023 season of the Latvian Rally Championship, the Cēsis Go4speed portal noticed that Korge arrived at the event with his hand tied. In a conversation with the Go4speed portal, Korge admitted that, unfortunately, he will be forced to miss the winter season due to injury.
“Unfortunately I injured my shoulder during a fun winter event, so now I have two months off… This means I will be forced to miss the winter season,” he says Team Korgewho last year finished the Alūksne rally in 3rd place, losing to Mārtiņš Seskas and Emil Blum.

“At the moment, due to the injury, I have no specific plans for this season, but I hope that we will do some rallies in Estonia, Latvia, as well as the new stage of the Estonian championship in Finland,” continues Korge, who intends to continue competing with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo

When asked whether in the summer Korgi could be seen competing in the Estonian stages of the ERČ or the Latvian WRC with an R5 car, the Estonian sportsman after a long sigh says: “It would be nice to do a couple of rallies with an R5 or Rally2 car, but at the moment we do not have this opportunity. To be honest, even now it is financially difficult to prepare our “Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X” for rallies.

Korge’s friend Emil Blum, who had fierce battles with the Estonian athlete in all rallies last season, also expressed his regret that Korge will not participate in the Alūksne rally. “Of course, it is a shame not to see Tim Corgi at the start this winter season, with whom we have always had fierce battles. Unfortunately the injury prevented him from participating in the competition. I wish him to recover as soon as possible so that we can fight together in the summer season” Emil Blum.
