Sofia Vergara’s palace in Los Angeles’ star-studded Beverly Park neighborhood is reminiscent of an old grand estate fit for royalty. But when curating the space, the actress wanted to ensure that guests felt comfortable there.
“I’m not afraid to spend money, but it has to be for something practical, not just for things that are there to look good,” Sofia Vergara told Architectural Digest, which published photos of the interior of her home.

“I didn’t want furniture that is so precious that people would be afraid to use it and enjoy it,” said the Colombian actress.
Charm and luxury
The “Modern Family” star, who most recently played notorious crime boss Griselda Blanco in the Netflix series of the same name, is on the March cover of Architectural Digest.
The actress’s bedroom
Vergara’s home overflows with historic charm and opulent details – baroque armchairs in the living room, a Spanish chandelier in the huge family room, and hand-painted floral plaster detailing on the dining room ceiling.

But to achieve the appearance and enable these features to stand out, a major transformation was required: “There were arches upon arches, all with columns. It felt like a castle in Transylvania,” Vergara said, recalling how the property looked when she first bought it.

Interior spaces are accentuated, with plants and greenery in many rooms – a vibrant design choice that suits but also accentuates the property’s extensive gardens

The estate’s outdoor spaces – or rather their potential – were a major draw for the actress: “I liked that you could see the landscape from every room, even though there wasn’t much garden to look at yet,” she said.
