A man has been arrested after a vehicle crashed into the gates of Buckingham Palace in the heart of London.
Blurred images posted on social media show a car at the front gates of the palace.
British media reported the statements of an eyewitness, who said he heard “a big bang”.
“I heard a loud bang and looked over and the car had crashed into Buckingham Palace. The police arrived at the scene very quickly, took the man out and arrested him,” he said.

An unknown person in a car rammed the gates of Buckingham Palace in London, the main residence of British monarchs.
The man was detained. The reasons for his action are unknown.

The police announced that the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
“At approximately 02.33am on Saturday 9 March a car crashed into the gates of Buckingham Palace. Armed police officers arrested a man at the scene on charges of damaging another’s property. He was taken to the hospital. There are no reports of injuries,” London police said in a statement.
“Investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances,” he also emphasized.
Buckingham Palace said no members of the royal family were inside the palace at the time of the incident and that repairs were being made to the gates.
