Starting at 6:00 a.m. this Sunday, June 9, Loja will host the first valid classic “La Castellana”, an event designed to evaluate the road levels of cyclists in the city and province.
Event
In an interview with Diario Crónica, Santiago Guarnizo, coach of the FedeLoja discipline, explained that the event will have a single 3.7 km route, which will begin at the city gate and conclude at the Reina de El Cisne federative stadium. . Those interested in participating may register according to the category to which they belong, such as: pre-infant, infant, pre-youth, youth, sub 23, elite, master A, B and C, and MTB.
According to the coach, the initiation categories will provide technical criteria to the Loja Provincial Cycling Association, allowing them to analyze the preparation levels of the athletes.
Registration will be open until Friday, June 7, through the following link with a cost of USD 20. Participants must make sure to use a road bicycle that complies with the regulations of the Ecuadorian Cycling Federation and that is in good condition. . In addition, the use of a helmet and gloves is mandatory.
Guarnizo noted that the last time an event of this type was held was 22 years ago, and highlighted his high expectations due to the continuous growth of this sport.
Awards
For the elite category, the prizes will be USD 100 for first place, USD 80 for second and USD 60 for third place. For the rest of the categories, there will be prizes from the sponsors, participation medals and an official competition jersey for the winner of each category. (D)
