“Locos y Lapas” exhibition in Los Vilos

“Locos y Lapas” is a video installation by the renowned Anglo-Mexican visual artist, Melanie Smith. Curated by the Mexican philosopher and critic José Luis Barrios, it brings together a series of audiovisual images as a result of the residency held at Bodegón Los Vilos in August 2023.

It is accompanied by five paintings and two videos where it is possible to observe the artist’s particular vision of the cultural, social and existential imaginary of places that challenge the convictions of Western Modernity.

Melanie Smith Born in the United Kingdom in 1965, he currently lives and works between Mexico City and London. His work includes a variety of media and has been exhibited in various institutions, museums and biennials in Europe and America, including MoMa, Tate Modern, MACBA, Museo Tamayo and MUAC Campus UNAM.
