Results of the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals
Liverpool and Atalanta
Liverpool suffered a 0-3 defeat against Atalanta, right at home at Anfield and was at risk of being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. In the 38th minute, a speedy and accurate attack helped Atalanta open the score thanks to Scamacca.

After the break, the home team was engrossed in attacking, leaving gaps for the opponent to exploit. In the 60th minute, striker Scamacca continued to score after an extremely delicate one-touch finish to increase the score to 2-0 for the away team. In the 83rd minute, Szoboszlai lost the ball miserably, Pasalic took advantage of the opportunity to shoot into the ‘Red Brigade’s net.
In the end, Liverpool suffered a heavy defeat with a score of 0-3 against Atalanta. The quarter-final second leg will take place on April 19 in Italy.
AC Milan and AS Roma
AC Milan also unexpectedly lost to AS Roma at home at San Siro. The only goal of this match belonged to Mancini in the 17th minute.

In the following minutes, AC Milan attacked vigorously and made up to 25 shots but were not successful. In the end, AC Milan received minimal defeat against AS Roma. The rematch between the two teams will take place at Olimpico Stadium.
Leverkusen and West Ham
In the match between Leverkusen and West Ham, coach Xabi Alonso and his team showed impressive performance when winning 2-0 at home against the English team.
Leverkusen maintained suffocating pressure but could not find a goal. The turning point happened when coach Xabi Alonso sent Victor Boniface and Jonas Hofmann onto the field respectively. Just a few minutes on the field, Hofmann volleyed into West Ham’s net to open the score.

In extra time, Boniface scored a dangerous header to seal a 2-0 victory for the German team. With this result, Leverkusen holds a huge advantage before traveling to England in the quarterfinals second leg next week.
Benfica and Marseille
In the other match, Benfica won 2-1 at home against Marseille. After only 16 minutes of rolling, the Portuguese team conceded the opponent’s goal after making good use of Rafa’s opportunity. In the 52nd minute, Di Maria shined and scored, doubling the gap for Benfica.

In the 67th minute, Marseille scored a goal to shorten the score to 2-1 thanks to Aubameyang, helping Marseille maintain hope of continuing. The result remains intact until the end of the match. Benfica has a big advantage before entering the return match taking place in France next week.
