Thirty years later, English giants Liverpool once again became national champions of England, after Manchester City’s defeat against Chelsea this evening.
It was not necessary for the club from the Beatles’ city to enter the field to end the fast that had lasted since 1989/1990, as the difference in points for second place allowed the club to celebrate the long-awaited achievement.
With seven games to play until the end of the season, 21 points up for grabs, Liverpool became champions thanks to a 23-point advantage over second in the league table.
The club, which is still European champion, has achieved its 19th Premier League victory and is just one away from tying Manchester United, which has 20.
