A total of 22 feature films were selected for the main competition at the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The list of those who will be responsible for choosing which one will win the Palme d’Or has been announced. Ebru Zelan is the storyteller and screenwriter of the Palme d’Or winning film ‘Winter Sleep’. It was directed by her husband, Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
In addition to five women, the judging panel of the main competition includes Palme d’Or winner Japanese director Hirokazu Kori-eda, Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino, Spanish director and screenwriter Juan Antonio Bayona and French actor-producer Omar C of Netflix’s ‘Lupine’ fame.

Canadian director Xavier Dolan led the judges in the Sainte-Riga category, Moroccan director Azmei El Moudir, French director Maimouna Doucour, actress Vicky Cripps, critic Todd McCarthy.
In the short film and student categories, Cinefundasso will be led by Belgian actress Lubna Azabal and will be judged by Serbian director Vladimir Perisic, French director Marie-Castie Mancho-Char, French producer Claude Nougare, former Director’s Fortnight director Paolo Moretti. The chief judges of the Camera d’Or award are French actress Emmanuelle Bayan and Belgian-Congolese musician-producer Baloji.
This year’s festival will be held from May 14 to May 25 in Cannes, France’s Mediterranean region. The opening and closing ceremonies will be broadcast live in France by France Television and internationally by Brut.
