Lidl has defended its New Year opening hours. People “verbally beat” him

We’ve noticed this several times over the past year. When a supermarket declares on social networks how it will or will not be open on public holidays, it’s bad. “Poor shop assistants. Why don’t you leave them at home”, they almost always write.

It wasn’t long ago that Lidl and Penny Market announced they would be extending their opening hours. People protested because the shops had to be open only in the morning on Saturdays and closed completely on Sundays, like the Germans or the Poles for example.

The Penny Market, which decided to keep its shops closed on Christmas Day, has received a wave of praise. “Great. At least one chain goes right,” they cheered in the comments folks. There were almost three hundred in total.

Lidl, however, received negative reactions. And it is thanks to the announcement that customers will be able to enjoy New Year’s shopping until five in the afternoon.

We have written

At the end of May Lidl announced that it would extend its opening hours from 1 June. Now in Prague some shops are open until ten in the evening…

Spoiled people?

However, in the case of December 31st, it is a normal day when the law does not prohibit the opening of shops. They can be opened at their discretion. Most close at six or an hour earlier.

Some Billy branches, for example, located in the center of Prague, are open until seven in the afternoon, at Ruzyně airport even until nine in the evening.

“I don’t know, I think even the salespeople are just people. That it would be enough to be open until 3pm. People are really spoiled. I don’t understand them. Unfortunately, there are people who are annoying and even disgusting. They only go there because is open. Before it was only Saturday morning and that was fine too,” appeared for example in discussion.

Some pointed out that December 31 is a classic day when branches would normally be open until 10pm. Others agreed with the observation, insisting that 3pm would be sufficient. Others were closed all day on New Year’s Eve.

But we know from personal experience that on the last day of December the shops are packed to bursting in the morning.

Open until five is benevolent, says Lidl

There are also those who, on the contrary, have no problems with opening. “How about the taxi drivers, the waitresses, the waiters, the bartenders, the cooks of all those restaurants, bars and hotels? What about maids, receptionists or even road workers, train drivers, public transport drivers, workers in many factories that simply cannot be closed? For example due to ovens or various machinery? And the other professions that have to go to work, not to mention the doctors and all those people at the IZS? Will you cry for them too and swear for them that they have to go to work? “, For example, wrote one of the participants. But others didn’t like his comment very much.

The administrator of the Lidl profile then repeated in the comments that similar opening hours are common and that in the case of a normal working day, such as New Year’s, on the contrary, it is still benevolent.

He also caught this from the other speakers.
