“Today’s statements by the SPÖ NÖ on the health system in Lower Austria are extremely disturbing,” said the two board members of the NÖ LGA, Alfred Zens and Konrad Kogler
St. Pölten (OTS) – “The fact that political decision-makers are trampling on the work of more than 28,000 LGA employees in the health and care sector and are stirring up uncertainty marks an absolute low point.”
The board of directors strongly rejects the claim that people in Lower Austria have died due to mismanagement and a lack of staff. “We are now having legal action examined in this regard – also to protect all of our employees. “The fact that Mr. Silvan does not necessarily have to have expertise in medicine and care is one thing. But the fact that he is making such outrageous claims is now crossing a line.”
The joint work for the health care of Lower Austria should not be disparaged by excessive opposition politics. The shabby attempt to make the NÖ LGA, as the operator of clinics and care centers, responsible for shortcomings in the outpatient care sector is more than transparent. “Under the common roof of the LGA, many things have been advanced and improved in the area of clinics and care centers. And that in challenging times like the current one or during the years of the pandemic.” In this context, reference should be made to increased staff numbers in medicine and nursing and continued top marks in satisfaction surveys among patients. As well as to the commitment of the NÖ LGA in the area of training young people in the medical and nursing fields as well as in the research sector. With more than three million outpatient contacts and a care offer of 6,000 care center places, the NÖ LGA is one of the largest health service providers in Austria.
“And ultimately, the main focus of all employees in the NÖ LGA is to provide the best possible care for the population of Lower Austria. Anyone who denies our colleagues this daily effort is disqualifying themselves,” said Kogler and Zens. The fact that high-ranking representatives of the SPÖ NÖ are making such statements with regard to health care in Lower Austria is particularly surprising “because the SPÖ, with its numerous representatives in various expert groups, is currently negotiating structural reforms of the health pact at the state level,” concluded Kogler and Zens.
