LG is preparing a passenger display that the driver won’t look at

The LG company, or its LG Display division, will present several new displays aimed at passenger cars at the CES consumer electronics trade show, which begins on January 9 in Las Vegas, USA. At the same time, displays should be intended for both the front and rear rows of seats.

One of the new features should be a display with technology that adjusts the angles of the visual field (Switchable Privacy Mode). This element, located in the dashboard, allows the front passenger to watch various contents, for example films, but at the same time adjusts the display so that the driver does not see anything on it and is therefore not distracted from driving.

The rear displays can be retracted into the ceiling to save as much space as possible.

Another interesting feature should be the so-called sliding OLED display, which should maximize efficiency in cars with limited space. Therefore, when the display is not in use, it can be hidden in the ceiling in front of the rear seats. It folds down only when rear passengers want to watch a movie, watch the news, make a video call, etc.

Additionally, the company is expected to introduce a new type of high-resolution P-OLED display, which is lighter, consumes less power and can be folded. Thanks to its compactness and low consumption, it should be the ideal solution, for example, for electric cars.

But apparently we will also see new dashboard screens, which should work together with the new head-up display. The system should use 3D technology, thanks to which it should improve the driver’s visibility from the car.
