Leones equalize series against Pericos

The Leones de Yucatán beat the Pericos de Puebla 8-2 on a night where the long-haired pitching shone, to leave the series 1-1 this Wednesday at the Victor Cervera Pacheco Baseball Stadium.

Both teams scored from the first inning, first the Pericos would score the game with an error in the outfield that Drew Stankiewicz would take advantage of to go to the rubber.

The Lions would respond at the conclusion of the same roll with a solo home run by Fabricio Macías.

In the third down Tomo Otosaka would step on the lead with a wild pitch.

In the next episode, the Lions with men in the corners would score two runs with a string of errors by the Pericos.

In the top fifth, the “feathered” would get within two runs with a sac fly from Juan Kirk.

But Lazaro Alonso would come in the fifth down with a RBI hit sending Tomo Otosaka to the plate. Then in the next roll, Rubén Tejada would go to the street with Norberto Obeso on board to make the score 7-2.

Obeso himself would extend the score by driving one more with a single that sent José Peraza to the plate, to put the final score of eight runs to two.

Elián Leyva started for the Lions, who struggled on the mound for five complete rolls where he allowed one clean run and prescribed four chocolates. In relief were Aneuris Rosario (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 1 K), Jhon Romero (1.0 IP, 1 K), Williams Ramírez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) and Pedro Payano (1.0 IP, 2 K).

Héctor Villalobos took the mound for the Pueblans and worked for three and a third innings where he received four runs and four hits.

This Thursday the long-haired men will send Panamanian Randall Delgado to the mound who will face Jesús Miguel Vargas for the Pericos.
