Vienna (OTS) – “The EU health data room forms the foundation for a high-performance and future-oriented health system,” emphasizes Peter Lehner, chairman of the Conference of Social Insurance Institutions, and describes the EU Parliament’s decision on the health data room this week as “significant and groundbreaking.” “The more complete and better it is “The more data there is, the more benefit it creates for science and in the treatment of patients,” says Lehner.
“It is unethical not to use new technologies and data – this applies to the system, society and the individual. The rapid and comprehensive availability of data can be crucial for optimal future care for the individual,” emphasizes the chairman, who at the same time emphasizes that “data use and data protection are not in contradiction to one another.” However, this requires an “urgently necessary transparency”.
“The EU health data room is also a strong signal to Europe as a science and research location,” says Lehner. “We have to bring science back. With this decision we are one step further. The availability of data clearly makes the location attractive,” concluded the chairman.
