Legislative: Dissident voices emerge on both camps

Christine Razanamahasoa and Alain Ratsimbazafy are well-known figures from both camps.

Dissidents risk becoming legion on both camps, opponents as well as supporters of power. Moreover, those who have already been excluded are complaining behind the scenes and promising to take their revenge.

The coming days will mark the publication of the final list of candidates for the presidential platform. This list, made up of supporters of the regime in place, is already arousing keen interest among the various political parties and associations supporting the President of the Republic. These candidates will be drawn, not at random, from the long list of political parties which support the Head of State. With 120 districts at stake, being on this list is seen as an invaluable opportunity to achieve victory in the vote scheduled for May 29. Behind the scenes, the competition is fierce. Contenders are vying for nominations for the presidential platform in various constituencies. In Fandriana, Solo Andriamamampisoa and Zavamanitra are fighting for a single nomination, while in Anjozorobe, IRD MP Odon Ndriamanampy and Manda Ravelojaona are embarking on a similar race.

Ambitions

In the 4th arrondissement of the capital, Désiré Rafidimanana, also known as Fidy TMH, sees his ambitions come to fruition. In Amoron’i Mania, Christine Razanamahasoa is also excluded from the list of candidates for the presidential platform. Just like Brunelle Razafintsiandraofa in Ikongo and the other IRD deputies who have already turned their backs on Andry Rajoelina. Notably, among others, Ahmad Ahmada from Fénérive Est, Jean Jacques Rabenirina from Bekily, Idealson from Ampanihy Ouest, Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko from Tuléar I. These elected officials will set themselves up as opponents of the presidential platform during the next legislative elections.

Independent

Meanwhile, in the opposition camp, dissensions are no less intense. Emilien Ramboasalama, current TIM deputy in the 4th arrondissement, was excluded from his party’s list of candidates for the next legislative elections. However, this former army officer refuses to step down easily and sets the stage for an independent campaign. He has already, moreover, mobilized the party’s bases against the decision of the political bureau which excluded him from the list of candidates. Likewise, Alain Ratsimbazafy and Gerry Randriambolaina, elected in the districts of Atsimondrano and Avaradrano, seek to return to the forefront despite their exclusion from the TIM list. These dissidences within the opposition could translate into independent candidacies in their respective constituencies, thus adding an additional dimension to an already turbulent electoral landscape.
