The academic offering of the season focuses on indoor, reflective and artistic activities that update current debates on migration, the market, higher education and the immortal work of Beethoven, among others.

The Academia de Humanismo Cristiano University has organized a workshop with the Argentine philosopher and professor from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Santiago Liaudat, entitled “Science, capitalism and intellectual property. The dilemmas of research and creation between research and the market.” In the meeting, the researcher will make a comparative reflection and the challenges between the state of cultural production and the current institutional creative moment in his country.

The UAcademia Symphony Orchestra will hold an open rehearsal conducted by the prestigious conductor Maximiano Valdés, in which the Seventh Symphony by LV Beethoven will be performed in a day that seeks to enrich the career of the group of musicians and achieve feedback on the process. Maximiano Valdés is one of the most recognized Chilean conductors in the world for his work as principal conductor of the Symphony Orchestras of Puerto Rico, Asturias and as artistic director of the Casals Festival. Among other achievements, he is also the author of part of the Naxos catalog. In Chile, he stands out as a permanent guest of the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Chile and the National Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Closing the month, the sociologist from the University of Leeds, Adrian Favell, will give the lecture “The orders and borders of global inequality: migration and mobility in late capitalism” in which the Irish researcher’s conclusions will be analyzed on his work on the associative processes of Bolivian and Venezuelan migrants in metropolitan areas of Chile and Argentina. The study is part of the MIGMOBS project supported by the Horizon European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant Scheme program, which analyzes the inequalities between countries and citizens resulting from international migration and cross-border mobility.

Finally, the German anthropologist with an extensive career in Mexico, Dr. Gunther Dietz, will give the keynote lecture “From the Conventional University to the Intercultural University” within the framework of the FDI AHC 22104 project funded by the Undersecretariat of Higher Education. The central theme of the conference will propose findings on how educational institutions can transform their structures and practices to effectively integrate cultural diversity into their academic communities. Currently, Dr. Gunther Dietz is a senior researcher at the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico and is a member of the National System of Researchers of the Mexican Council for Educational Research.
