Lebanon – Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi expressed yesterday, Wednesday, “full solidarity with the innocents in the south,” stressing that “all Israeli aggression that targets innocent people is condemned and destined to end.”
Mawlawi added during a security meeting in the city of Sidon: “The state is doing everything it can to help the displaced southerners, and for us Lebanon has won, and no aggression is capable of targeting the strong people of the south.”
Mawlawi concluded: “We call for sparing the south and Lebanon the calamity of war, and we affirm that the injustice to which innocent people are subjected is unacceptable.”
The Lebanese mission to the United Nations said this in response to Tel Aviv’s threats to implement Resolution 1701 (Resolution 1701 was unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council in 2006 following the “July War” between “Hezbollah” and Israel) Forcefully: “The one who violates the resolution is Israel…Israel’s violations against Lebanon since 2006 have exceeded 30,000 and are documented by the Security Council.”
The mission continued: “Israel’s threats continue, including what its representative said, which shows its intention to expand the scope of the war and search for a pretext to launch an aggression against Lebanon.”
The Lebanon mission called on the United Nations and the Security Council to oblige Israel to stop its attacks and fully implement UN Resolution 1701.
It is worth noting that today, Wednesday, the Israeli army killed a child and a woman and wounded 6 other civilians, in a raid it launched on the town of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon.
While intermittent clashes continue between Hezbollah and Israeli forces on the border between Lebanon and Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, as Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah announced that the Lebanon front is a front “in support of Gaza.”
