MP Golam Farooq Pinku said, ‘I have highlighted the importance of Laxmipur-Noakhali road. In the first phase, we have submitted a demand letter to upgrade the road from Begumganj in Noakhali to Lakshmipur bus terminal to four lanes. I hope the ministry will take this matter into consideration to improve the fate of this region.’
The Barisal-Bhola-Laxmipur waterway through the Meghna river is an easy means of communication for 21 districts of the southern region including Chittagong and Sylhet. Recently, the Barisal-Bhola-Laxmipur National Highway was widened from Laxmipur Ferry Ghat to the city bus terminal. The passengers of this route are enjoying the benefits. But the road from the bus terminal to Begamganj in Noakhali is not wide. Besides, most of the vehicles and passengers use the Raipur-Laxmipur-Noakhali road from Shariatpur via Harina Ferry Ghat. Accidents often occur because the road is not wide.
The Raipur-Laxmipur-Noakhali road is busy 24 hours a day. It is necessary to widen this road. If the road is widened, accidents on this route will be reduced. There will be an economic revolution in the region.
