On Thursday 12 January the population was present at the invitation of the mayor Émile Raggini, for the traditional greeting ceremony.
The municipal center welcomed a large audience, visibly happy to be together. Alain Génies, departmental vice-president, honored the meeting with her presence, as every year, and spoke for Françoise Navarro-Estalle who, unable to be present, wanted to greet the public.
Numerous investments
Émile Raggini, first of all, wanted to thank all the actors who participate in the life of the village. He then illustrated the results of the past year, the fruits of a policy always focused on improving self-financing capacity, continuing to reduce debt, all this without increasing the tax burden and always with the systematic search for subsidies. In short, encouraging investments remains one of the key values of this budget policy for which the accounting situation known so far has been presented. It was therefore possible to carry out, in the wake of 2022, new projects in 2023. We mention, by way of reminder, the Health Center which includes facilities suitable for health workers and which presents an expanded treatment offer in Lauranais, the new emergency center with infrastructures in line with the important activity of the firefighters. We mention, for 2023, the development of avenue des Écoles and avenue d’Aigues-Vives, with the creation of a “soft route”, intended to increase everyone’s safety, and the development of Rue de la Mairie and Place des Acacias. It is worth mentioning other achievements, such as the modification, now at an advanced stage, of public lighting, now provided by LED luminaires, and the installation of container covers.
Streets and Casa Escande
Other projects, on which the Municipality is working, will see the light in 2024: it essentially involves continuing the repair of the streets of the city centre, combining it with the cancellation of the electricity and telephone networks; all as part of an ongoing urban planning reflection. Added to this will be the rehabilitation of the Maison Escande, received as a donation from the municipality. Alain Ginies then spoke on behalf of the Department, recalling that one of its important missions is to help the population socially and support the projects of the municipalities whose achievements contribute to improving the regional economic fabric. This is indeed the case of Laure and he assured the mayor to continue to support him in financing the new investments undertaken by the municipality.
All participants were then invited to a pleasant aperitif-dinner, for a moment of conviviality in a warm atmosphere.
