Wilhelmsburg (OTS) – The LAUFEN bathroom brand is supporting the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team at this year’s 37th America’s Cup. The highly competitive Sailing Cup is considered the oldest sports trophy in the world and regularly attracts an audience of millions. With Alinghi Red Bull Racing, Switzerland is returning to cup action fifteen years after its spectacular victories in 2003 and 2007. The team will also compete in the Youth & Puig Women’s America’s Cup.
The partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing is LAUFEN’s first involvement in top international sport. Today, as 170 years ago, people and technology are testing the limits of what is possible at the America’s Cup. The latest generation of highly technical boats travel four times faster than the wind. They are lifted out of the water by wings called “foils” and can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h in flight mode. In order to get the best out of the boats for Alinghi Red Bull Racing, the design department is in close contact with Red Bull, the driving force in the world of sport.

At the 37th America’s Cup in 2024, five nations will compete against the defending champion Emirates Team New Zealand: In addition to the Swiss team, these are France, Italy, Great Britain and the USA.
