Marie-Louise Vorstenbosch from Sint-Oedenrode will not soon forget New Year’s Eve this time. On New Year’s Eve, her dog Lara ran away after children threw fireworks at the animal while she was walking. Marie-Louise has been looking for Lara for two days now and the hope that she will return diminishes by the minute. Especially after she returned home and found traces of the dog’s blood on the front door. “We searched day and night, to no avail.”
Lara is a nine-month-old Australian Shepherd. Marie-Louise takes us back to Sunday. “Around three o’clock I was taking Lara for a walk. Some children were lighting fireworks near Florisstraat. They threw the fireworks at Lara. She got so scared that she ran away. She tore my leash out of his hands and fled towards the park. We searched the city and countryside, but she has since disappeared,” says Marie-Louise.
During the fireworks, Lara got a little closer to Marie-Louise. “She was a little scared. The kids who had set off the fireworks were nowhere to be seen.”
“Ever since they set off the fireworks, Lara has been missing.”
Once home, Marie-Louise saw blood splattered on the front door. Maybe Lara was hit by a car. She doesn’t dare say it. After this discovery, Marie-Louise immediately contacted the organization Where is our angel? and immediately used the sniffer dog Jill to track down the missing Lara. “The sniffer dog found a trail and managed to follow it for a while. Due to the numerous gunpowder vapors, which are harmful to a sniffer dog, it was decided to stop the search after five kilometers.”
through Brabant for animal care a second sniffer dog was sent out on New Year’s Day. “At Spingplank primary school the dog had a huge impact. But no trace of Lara was found,” says Marie-Louise, a little discouraged. “Now let’s see if we can lure her home with some sausages.”
