Lack of energy slows down investments

There are five industrial parks in La Laguna de Durango that have been halted due to a lack of investment in infrastructure for electric power, since the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) requires them to invest close to one million pesos per hectare, in addition to a substation.

Érick Escobedo García, director of Economic Development in Gómez Palacio, explained that since this municipal administration began, they have sought to promote the city and It was found that many businessmen claimed to have an industrial park but in reality it was just a piece of land.so they remained in “good intentions”, since in order to say that one has a space for hosting industries, an investment per hectare in electricity is required and to have a substation, which costs from 70 to 100 million pesos.

“The Federal Commission is holding you back a little bit because companies want energy, if you don’t have the 100 million and they don’t want to invest because there’s nothing yet, then we want to make a connection between companies that are dedicated to private electricity, with these people who have land but can’t invest, and that they establish a commercial relationship for energy,” he explained.
