Hotel Thermal is most associated with the international film festival. Its large hall, where the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival take place, can accommodate 1,131 spectators. At the same time, you will also find here the smallest hall of the entire festival, which can accommodate only 63 spectators.

In total, the festival films will be screened in twelve halls. In addition to the Hotel Thermal, it will also be shown in the Grandhotel Pupp or in the city’s theaters.

Hotel Thermal
Hotel Thermal is located in the heart of Karlovy Vary and is also the center of the children’s festival. The famous Brutalist building was created from the beginning with the idea of creating a central location for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The hotel can offer accommodation for more than 500 guests. For film fans, however, the capacity of the screening rooms in its congress section is essential. In it, we can find a total of six different screening rooms. From the large cinema hall, which can accommodate over 1100 spectators, which is also used for the festive opening and closing of the festival, to cinema hall C, which can accommodate only 63 visitors.
Grandhotel Pupp
Another well-known Karlovy Vary hotel – Grandhotel Pupp – is connected to the Karlovy Vary IFF. It has been in Karlovy Vary and has been operating since 1894. It is named after the Karlovy Vary confectioner Johann Georg Pupp, who was born in Veltrusy as Jan Jiří Pop. Together with his wife, he purchased the buildings on the site of today’s grand hotel already at the end of the 18th century.
The hotel offers 228 rooms. For film fans, however, the local cinema hall with a capacity of 416 spectators is essential, in which films are regularly shown as part of the film festival.
Karlovy Vary City Theatre
The current building of the municipal theater in Karlovy Vary was first opened to the audience in 1886. Since then, it has been renovated several times. Currently, the Karlovy Vary IFF can offer visitors a hall with a capacity of 296 seats.
Cinemas in Karlovy Vary
Among other things, festival films are also shown in places where locals otherwise go to see them all year round. That is, to the two cinemas in Karlovy Vary. These are Kino Čas with a capacity of 218 seats and Kino Drahomíra, which seats up to 123 viewers at once.
Spa III
Spa III, also known as the Kurhaus, was established in 1866. In addition to the equipment for the spa processes, it also contained a large concert hall and several prayer rooms from the beginning. A hall with a capacity of 198 seats is used for the purposes of the Karlovy Vary IFF.
Husovka Theater
Visitors to the Karlovy Vary IFF will find the smallest hall outside the Thermal Hotel in the Husovka Theatre. It is located not far from the Municipal Theater or the Grandhotel Pupp. Its auditorium can accommodate a maximum of 96 spectators per performance.
