Krejčíková had to wait for her breakthrough, even though she was… A child star!

From an early age she was born for great things! And when Krejčíková broke even the complicated transition from juniors to women, the path to fateful triumphs opened up for her.

True, she was already a doubles star, she and Siniakova formed an elite couple. But it wasn’t until three years ago when she unexpectedly dominated the singles in the Grand Slam in Paris that not only many experts realized what a phenomenon Bára was in her childhood. “She was beating us all, it was only a matter of time before she came through,” even her more successful contemporaries from the fedcup national team repeated.

A truant girl

She dominated at a young age, winning tournaments not only in Brno. She represented, at sixteen, she dominated the prestigious Pardubice junior in singles and doubles without losing a set. “When I was younger, it was a motivation for me to drop out of school. The finals of the children’s tournaments were played on Monday, so when I got there, I didn’t have to go to school. That was always the main goal of the weekend.” she laughed.

The covid helped

But the transition between women was disillusionment, she groped. Dreamed grand slams slipped through her fingers. Out of the first sixteen attempts, she ended up in the qualification fifteen times! Everything was broken only by the covid-diluted 2020 season and especially the postponed French Open in the fall, where she reached the round of 16. In seven months, she went to clay Paris again and it was a triumph and a jump among the cream of the crop. And the current Wimbledon laurel was only a reminder of her childhood dominance. How will it continue?

Pattern Justine

Her child star was world number one Justine Henin. After the triumph in Paris, she met the Belgian winner of seven Grand Slams in a television studio. “I was totally shocked that he knew my name! I just wanted to touch her, I didn’t believe she was real. When I told her that she was my idol, she replied that now she’s a huge fan of mine for a change.” Krejčíková recalled.
