KPI Asks Broadcasting Institutions to Provide Complete Information on 2024 Pilkada Contest

JAKARTA – Face 2024 Regional Elections institution broadcasting expected to be able to inform the entire contestation process completely. The information provided is not only complete but also accurate and educative.

Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Center Tulus Santoso said, the information provided must be complete such as track records, vision and mission, to the capacity and capabilities of the contestants. That way the public can assess and determine their candidate leaders appropriately and rationally.

“The weakness of our society when choosing is that most of them use their feelings rather than rationality. I hope that broadcasting institutions can change that and later not only the desired candidates will be elected but also people who are truly capable of working to develop their regions,” said Tulus Santoso while filling a discussion at LPP RRI Ende, Thursday (5/9/2024).

In this regard, Tulus encouraged broadcasting institutions to help the public to choose the right leader in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Election contest. The reason is, currently, conventional mass media is still considered a source of information that is trusted by the public and has a wide reach.

“This regional election moment is an event to get leaders who are willing to work for the people in the regions. The people can replace leaders who are considered not good and are not able to run their programs. But if they are considered able to work, this is a moment to be re-elected, so broadcasting institutions must be able to present useful information for the public to trace the track record of each candidate,” he said.
