Virat Kohli is one of the best stars on the current world cricket stage. Fascinated by this Indian cricket game, many people call him ‘King Kohli’. Fans called Kohli by this name on social media.
But how much Kohli can adapt to the name King given by his fans, no one may be thinking. Because of which, Kohli himself finally spoke about the matter.
Kohli recently banned fans from calling him King. Because, he feels embarrassed.
Royal Challengers Bangalore star Kohli went to the jersey unveiling ceremony at the M Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. There, the director of the program said to Kohli, ‘What is the feeling of the king?’ On hearing such a question, the audience in the gallery started shouting. Overjoyed.
Later, Kohli said, ‘Let me speak. We have to go to Chennai tonight. We have chartered flights. So we don’t have much time. First, I need to stop calling him that name (King). I said to Faf (du Plessis), every year you call me that name, I feel very embarrassed. Just call me Virat.’
This naming is not new in cricket. Impressed by the performance of the best cricketers on the field, the fans give them different names. Earlier, the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was named as ‘God of Cricket’ or the creator of cricket.
IPL will start on March 22. Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore will take the field in the first match. Opponents are Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led reigning champions Chennai Super Kings.
