Demands by the SPÖ NÖ after the state election would have burdened the state budget with 8.2 billion euros
St. Pölten (OTS) – “While SPÖ State Councillor Hergovich continues to take a destructive stance against the state, we are working on another important milestone in our work programme for Lower Austria with the 2025/26 double budget. We are putting party politics aside and have drawn up the budget with common sense for the state and its citizens. Despite these economically challenging times, we are sticking to important investments and are committed to a clear budget path,” emphasise club chairman Jochen Danninger of the People’s Party of Lower Austria and club chairman Reinhard Teufel of the FPÖ Lower Austria.
“After the state election, we saw how the Hergovich SPÖ would have handled the state’s finances. Their list of demands, which included the employment of long-term unemployed people, would have cost the state 8.2 billion euros by 2028. Free here, free there – anti-everything state councilor Hergovich would have preferred to throw his fellow countrymen’s tax money out the window with both hands,” recalls club chairman Danninger of the negotiations between the People’s Party of Lower Austria and the SPÖ Lower Austria and continues: “The budget is increasing in all areas. In health, by 10 percent by 2026. In housing – and housing subsidy advisory board member Hergovich also knows this – the funds from the housing subsidy fund must also be included. The budget in this area will therefore increase by 36 percent by 2026.”
“We are ensuring a solid budget that focuses on the interests of Lower Austrians and in which the needs of our fellow countrymen come first. This is politics with reason and common sense,” emphasises club chairman Teufel.
