In recent months some serious bombs have fallen on Neerpede. It all started with the news that Anderlecht had terminated Jean Kindermans’ contract. Finally, no agreement was reached with the head of the famous youth sector, who will start working in Antwerp next summer.
Anderlecht have now completely reformed Neerpede. Mikkel Hemmersam has been appointed as the new director of the Academy and will be assisted by Henk Mariman and Peter Verbeke. The first arrives from the OHL and becomes Academy Head of Football, while the former CEO returns as Academy Head of Talent and Innovation.

One of the reasons for the drastic change made at Anderlecht was that they wanted to focus more on Neerpede’s data, with the insinuation that Kindermans would object. “What do you mean the youth sector has no data? It makes me laugh,” sneers former youth director Kevin Vermeulen. Radio Radzinski.
Vermeulen was Kindermans’ right-hand man in Neerpede for many years. Unlike his teacher, he has already left, because his contract was terminated by mutual agreement. “We were pioneers in this field. Total nonsense, just like the story that Jean left for Antwerp for money. For both me and Jean, it should never have happened like this. He is certainly open to innovation, but the situation was no longer sustainable.”

According to Vermeulen, other factors played a role in Kindermans’ departure. “We have never been in favor of a strictly delimited hierarchical structure. And this is the case today. New bosses, new laws for sure… Council confidants are placed everywhere in different positions. We are not one of them and then you will know now what time is it.”
It’s really surprising that Anderlecht’s draw was invaded by the Danes last year. In the wake of CEO Sports Jesper Fredberg, coach Brian Riemer and then Mikkel Hemmersam quickly joined as technical director and now also Academy Director.
However, Kindermans and Vandenhaute didn’t really click. “A difference in vision,” says Vermeulen. Striking: with Peter Verbeke, a confidant of Vandenhaute has also returned to Anderlecht. He starts working at Neerpede.
