Kimberly Reyes revealed the problems that cyberbullying caused her and launched a campaign on social networks

One of the situations that celebrities face the most on their social networks has to do with the cyber harassment or bullying they receive in the different publications they make.

This is the case of actress Kimberly Reyes, who after the changes she underwent to her face, had to face criticism and comments from her fans who constantly asked her about this physical change.

These comments led the actress to repeatedly think about moments of depression and insecurity about her physical appearance and, as she said in an interview with Tatiana Franko, “I began to shut down, at that time many times I did think about suicide… I couldn’t handle people’s insults anymore, they were very hard moments where I wanted to throw in the towel and not be here anymore, I didn’t feel capable of facing the world.”

In a recent Instagram post, where she has a community of four million followers, she once again referred to the cyberbullying of which she was a victim and called for attention.

According to the actress of novels such as The End of Paradise, Diomedes: the Cacique of La Junta and El Joe, the Legend, “our word has a lot of power, let’s be responsible and aware of this, it is not easy for anyone to deal with verbal attacks.”

These situations led her to undertake a campaign on social networks surrounded by different entertainment figures who have experienced a similar situation to combat cyberbullying, which she decided to call “I am Ciberpaz.” Former queens such as Laura Barjum, presenters such as Tatiana Franko and actors such as Mabel Moreno are part of this initiative.

According to Reyes, at first when she started on social media she felt very excited to be able to share with her followers aspects of her life that they knew little about. However, as the days went by, that illusion changed considerably and turned into darkness “when faced every day with an avalanche of people who attacked me again and again.”

The negative comments generated a negative impact on the now singer, as she mentioned that “they cannot imagine that situation, because they have not had to experience it firsthand… Face it using qualifiers that because you are a public figure ‘you have to tolerate it’… That is why today, I want to ask you for a moment to think that those messages arrive on your cell phone when you share something and that suddenly they tell you everything they think is wrong with you.”

Kimberly Reyes’ wake-up call

The actress pointed out that these types of messages that people receive, as happened in her case, make them think about ending their lives, because they are not validated by a society behind a screen. And he added that: “Your words hurt, they hurt, because those of us behind here are real human beings and we are fighting a thousand battles that you don’t know about.”

She acknowledged that being able to talk about that situation made her feel liberated, but she is concerned about the fact that there are young people who do not have a safe place and there is a high number who are experiencing a high degree of cyberbullying, she assured that “that is not progress.”

He concluded by saying that technology is a powerful weapon, which should not be used to destroy but to build and invited people to behave in these digital spaces as they do in public. And he ended by saying: “Respect others, don’t think about someone else’s body… I don’t think you would like someone to harm you with a comment about everything you have worked for because they simply don’t like it.” With Infobae
