Khaled Ahmed is on fire with the ball against Sri Lanka. This right-arm pacer single-handedly held the Lankans down with 1 runout and 3 wickets. He took the first wicket in the second over of the innings.
Then Khaled hunted a pair in the 12th over. The Lankans are under pressure after losing 4 wickets at the beginning of the day due to his explosive bowling.
Lankan top order Kushal Mendis went to cut the short and bounced ball of the 12th over (second ball) of Khaled’s innings. But the right-hander seems to be a bit late to pool.
As a result, the ball was going towards the foul zone. Zakir Hasan was fielding with sharp eyes. Getting a chance, Zakir palmed Mendis with a great catch. Mendis returned with 16 runs off 26 balls.
In the last ball of that over, Khaled bowled Dimuth Karunaratne who was trying to stay on the pitch. This left-handed Lankan batsman scored 17 runs off 37 balls.
Then Angelo Mathews was run out over Khaled. Dinesh Chandimal was trying to get a run by throwing Khaled offside. The fielder Nazmul Hossain who was there made a calm confident through and directly broke the stumps of Mathews going for strike.
As of writing this report, the Lankans have collected 50 runs after losing 4 wickets after 14 overs of play. Chandimal is unbeaten on 3 runs and Dhananjaya de Silva on 1 run.
Earlier, Khaled hit the Lankan camp in the second over. The right-arm pacer took a third slip hand catch of Lankan opener Nishan Madushka in the last ball of the over.
Madushka could not make good connection with the bat while driving Khalid. The ball hit the edge of the bat and went to Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Miraj took the opportunity completely.
Bangladesh won the toss at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday. After winning the toss, Tiger captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto decided to field. Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva has been invited to bat.
