Kazakhstan’s track and field team representative Nora Jeruto has made it to the finals of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Liter.kz reports with reference to Olymic.kz.
She successfully completed the opening round of the 3000m steeplechase.
The top five athletes from each race advanced to the finals. Jeruto finished fifth in hers, which allowed her to advance to the finals.
“This is my first Olympics. And I am very happy to compete in it, to defend the honor of Kazakhstan. I am also happy that I made it to the final with my best result of the season. I will give it my all in the final. I have a lot of expectations for the decisive performance. I am very grateful to Kazakhstan for all the opportunities. I prepared for the Olympics thoroughly. I have a one-year-old son. But it was not difficult for me to return from maternity leave, because I always keep myself in shape,” the athlete said.
According to her, it was difficult for her to compete with Ethiopian and American athletes during the selection.
“They are not easy to overtake. But in the final I will be even better,” Nora added.
In turn, Daisy Jepkemei came in tenth in the first race and did not qualify.
