Kazakhstan national team selects flag bearer for 2024 Paralympics

The President of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan Kairat Boranbayev announced the name of the flag bearer of the delegation of Kazakhstan at the opening ceremony of the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, reports Liter.kz.

According to information Caravan.kzthe flag of Kazakhstan will be carried by Sevda Aliyeva, who competes in para shooting. The girl won a Paralympic license by decision of the International Paralympic Committee, she is also a world champion in wheelchair dancing and she was chosen as the para-athlete who will carry the flag of Kazakhstan.

This year, for the first time in history, the opening ceremony of the Paralympics will take place not in a stadium, but in the city centre – on the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

“It is a great honor for me to carry our flag at such a huge sports festival, on the international stage, I will proudly carry the banner of Kazakhstan. I also want to tell my story, it began for me with the Paralympic center, I was a visitor and they noticed me there, invited me to a shooting range. Everyone knows that the Paralympic training center was built by Kairat Sovetaevich (Boranbayev), and for us, Paralympians, it is not just a training center, but a second home, where I met friends, acquired sports uniform and found motivation, thanks to which I am now here in front of you, with a license to Paris. I also thank Kairat Sovetaevich for purchasing special equipment for weapons. I want to wish all Kazakhstani Paralympians to perform well at the Paralympics in Paris and raise our flag on the international stage, to return home only with victory,” said Sevda Aliyeva.

The Paralympic Games will be held from August 28 to September 9 in Paris. Kazakhstan will represent a record number of athletes – 33 in 9 sports, including for the first time – in the Paralympic team sport, sitting volleyball. The Kazakhstan teams participating in the 2024 Paralympic Games are holding final training camps in Almaty and abroad.
