Kazakh citizens launched a petition for fair tariffs

On the official site petitions A new document has appeared in Kazakhstan, Liter.kz reports.

In a document addressed to the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the authors emotionally note that tariffs should be controlled by the people themselves.

“Our wallet is not a “feeding trough” for the oligarchs! Officials gave all the energy sector into the hands of the oligarchs, and from April 1, 2024, the remaining independent companies were eliminated from the market. We, citizens, were not even asked about this and are not going to be asked. The petition predicts an increase in equipment wear and tear and an increase in tariffs.

“It’s time to put an end to this! What needs to be done? 1. Bring fair competition back to the energy sector. 2. Form people’s tariff councils so that citizens themselves can decide what fair tariffs should be. We need a clear tariff system, not what is currently being passed off as one. 3. Return all regional thermal power plants to state ownership and 49% of the capital of these thermal power plants should go to citizens of the regions. 4. All tariffs should be under the control of the people!” the authors of the petition stated.

In order for the document to be accepted for work, it needs to collect 50 thousand signatures. It will be open for discussion and signing until January 1, 2025.
