Kasselakis to relatives of people killed in Tempi: “Your fight for democracy in Greece is heroic”

“They are heroes who fight for democracy in our homeland”, emphasized Stefanos Kasselakis, referring to the relatives of people killed in Tempi, after the end of an event held in Brussels, inside the European Parliament, where the mother of the deceased Martha, Maria Karystianou, shocked everyone with her speech.

The event was entitled “Tempi: Derailment of the rule of law”, it was organized by the Eurogroup of the Left and had as central speakers relatives of people killed in Tempi and MEP Kostas Arvanitis

Taking the floor, the president of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance assured that “we will never abandon you” and repeated what he said in the previous days, that in case SYRIZA is elected, there will be no protection for the MPs, there will be no immunity , adding that “this is about common sense”

“There are not enough words to express how much I admire you. You are our heroes for the modern Greece that we all need”, pointed out Stefanos Kasselakis addressing Maria Karystianou and Pavlos Aslanidis, who are relatives of the people who lost their lives in the fatal train tragedy in Tempi.

He then emphasized that the international community should know that in the crime of Tempe the ND government bears the responsibility for falsifying evidence at the scene of the fatal train collision.

“After all this he can’t say he’s innocent”

Then, briefly describing what has happened during the investigation of the railway tragedy, he noted that the families had to push, against everyone, to reveal evidence from the scene of the collision of the trains and when they went to the supreme court, the Supreme Court urged them to live their lives in peace and invited them to address the church.

At the same time, the president of SYRIZA-PS referred to the immunity enjoyed by the former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Kostas Karamanlis, regarding the crime of Tempo and added that Kyriakos Mitsotakis allowed him to be a candidate again.

In fact, the president of SYRIZA-PS did not fail to underline that Mr. Karamanlis, as the competent minister, had received multiple warnings regarding the possibility of a railway tragedy, emphasizing that “after all this he cannot say that he is innocent”.

In her speech, Maria Karystianou, who lost her daughter at the age of 19 in the tragedy said: We came to talk about the value of life, human rights. We are the voice of our dead. It’s like hearing my daughter’s voice.”

At the beginning of the event, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the dead in the tragedy that unfolded in Tempe. SYRIZA MEP Kostas Arvanitis began his speech by emphasizing “Justice everywhere”

He also referred to the resolution on the rule of law, saying that “the European Parliament resolution did not send a message to the country, but it sent a message to the government.”
