618 athletes from 26 provinces participated in the Junior Open Air Puta Turkey Championship organized by the Traditional Turkish Archery Federation (TGTOF) at the Istanbul Archers Foundation facilities. In the championship that started on Friday, the athletes who took the first three places in the individual categories of ‘Girls’ and ‘Boys’, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 years old, were given their awards at a ceremony. Traditional arrows and bows, under the control of the technical committee, were used in the competition, which was held with traditional clothes. Speaking at the ceremony, Turkey Traditional Turkish Archery Federation President Cengiz Toksöz said, “Today is the final day of our Junior Turkey Championship, which started on Friday. Competitions are held in categories between the ages of 8-9, 10-11, 12-13. These age groups compete and there are also team competitions within themselves.” In traditional archery, we give the highest awards to our little brothers, because we want to give them higher awards to motivate them and to make it easier for them to buy bows and arrows. The desire to preserve this ancient tradition in Turkish archery makes us hopeful for the future. We want to help them as much as we can. There are also serious successes in these age categories. This makes us very happy. We are trying to support their efforts and present the awards to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. “We have medals in every category and we present the teams with their trophies along with the medals,” he said.

Şevval Akkuzu, who came first in the 12-13 year old Little Girls Individual category, said, “I came first in Turkey in my age category. I am very happy and frankly, I am very proud of myself. I saw that people supported me. I would like to thank the whole club, my friends, my teachers, our club president and my supporters.” “I thank everyone very much. We are a family and we will always support each other. I am very proud to bring this success to my club. I will continue to work for the national team,” he said.

Hamza Tutar, who came first with his team in the 12-13 Year Old Junior Boys Team, said: “As 3 people, we came first in the Turkish Championship. We had a lot of fun here. I also thank my teachers. I congratulate my friends too. We are happy, we had a lot of fun. 2 months.” “We worked hard, we prepared hard and we were rewarded for our efforts,” he said.

Ahmet Emir Ünal, who came first individually in the 8-9 Year Old Junior Boys, said, “I am very happy. I am now 1st in the Turkish Championship. I got my first first place. We also came third as a team in the 12-13 age group with our club. We continue to work and we are a team leader.” “We are a family. We want to continue to bring such success. I am very happy. I enjoyed these two days. We want to be selected for the national team when I grow up. I want to achieve great success for Turkey there too,” he said.
