The Junior Muaythai National Team will participate in the Junior Muaythai World Championship to be held in Thailand with 26 athletes. The athletes, who prepared in the camp organized for the championship, will go to the matches with the motto of gold medal.
The Muaythai World Championship will be held in Thailand from September 1-20. The Turkish Junior Muaythai National Team will participate in the championship with 26 athletes. The national team held its final camp at the Kastamonu Olympic Preparation and Camp Training Center under the management of coach Erhan Otluoğlu before the championship. The national team, consisting of 15 male and 11 female athletes, will go to Thailand after the camp. The athletes, who continue their preparations meticulously, said they participated in the championship with the goal of winning a gold medal.
Erhan Otluoğlu: “A comprehensive organization with the participation of 90 to 110 countries”
Providing information about the preparations, coach Erhan Otluoğlu said, “15 male and 11 female athletes will compete. Hopefully, as a country, we are aiming for the world championship as a team. Last year, we were world champions as a team in the senior category. The year before that, we were second in the youth category. This year, our goal is the world championship. We are one of the best teams in the world. It is a comprehensive organization with an average of 90 to 110 countries participating.”
“Facilities like the Olympic village have been built”
Otluoğlu, who stated that the facility in Kastamonu has all kinds of facilities, said, “We thank our ministry and our statesmen for establishing such a facility. It is a magnificent facility. In nature, at a beautiful altitude, facilities like an Olympic village have been built. We thank the President of the Turkish Muaythai Federation, Hasan Yıldız, for his support.”
Özge Söyüncü: “I promise my country that I will get the gold medal”
Özge Söyüncü, one of the national athletes who stated that she has been interested in Muay Thai for 3.5 years, stated that she will participate in the championship for the gold medal and said, “I became the world champion by defeating my Thai and Canadian opponents in the world championship held in Malaysia in 2022. I became the European and world champion last year. I will become the world champion by defeating all my opponents this year. I trust myself, I trust my team. May God help us all. I promise my country that I will win the gold medal this year too.”
Ahmet Akay Dalkıran: “We want to crush our rivals and wave our flag in the sky”
One of the athletes, Ahmet Akay Dalkıran, also stated that he wanted to wave the Turkish flag, and said, “They help us in every field, whether it be our nutrition or our training. I won two ranking matches in the 2023 world championship, I lost in the 3rd match. I have been second in Europe once, Turkish champion 4 times, and third in Turkey twice. Hopefully, my goal this year is to raise our flag. We want to crush our opponents and wave our flag in the sky.”
Bediha Taçyıldız: “As both adults and youth, we are constantly becoming champions as a team”
Visiting the team and providing moral support, national athlete Bediha Taçyıldız stated that Turkey has come a long way in Muaythai and said, “As a national athlete, I have 6 world and 3 European championships in my career. Today, we came here to visit our youth national team. They will set off for the world championship in 3-4 days. We are here to motivate them. Our athletes are very good, everyone is in good form. I think they will return with great success. Our national team is very successful. We are constantly becoming champions as a team, both adults and youth.
