Judgment prevents the publication of Elisa and Lamjarad

In a prominent judicial development at the level of the Arab artistic scene, the Chamber of Commerce in Dubai Courts issued a final ruling for the benefit of the Lebanese artist Elisa, to cancel the distribution agreement that she had signed with “Wattri” on August 12, 2023, and preventing the latter from publishing or distributing my song “Anna We We” and the famous “from the first minute” that he collected with Moroccan artist Saad Lamrad.

According to an official statement from the Elisa Business Administration, which was reached by Hespress, this judicial decision came after it was proven that illegal use of parts of its previous song “and Bayr”, what the court considered a clear infringement of its technical and literary rights protected under local and international laws.

The statement highlighted that the ruling issued not only to cancel the agreement, but also included accurate technical and regulatory procedures that ensure the Lebanese artist restores her full digital rights, as he obligated the company to deliver all the keys to access to the digital platforms that she used to distribute Elisa’s works, and her complete separation from her official channel on YouTube, in a way that ensures that it restores full control in its technical content and communication with her audience.

This ruling is a judicial precedent in the Arab world in terms of recognition of the rights of artists in the digital world, and it constitutes an advanced step in the path of devoting artistic justice and protecting creativity from the abuses that threaten intellectual property and the distribution of musical content.

The same statement appreciated the legal efforts made by two specialized teams in the artist’s defense, and their supervision of following up the file until what he considered “a symbolic and humanitarian victory”.

It is noteworthy that the chapters of the dispute are due to Elisa’s announcement of the annulment of her contract with the company “Westi” from one side, accusing her of not taking any supportive situation during her crisis with the Lebanese artist Ziad Burji, who re -presented her song “Anna Wah and” with his voice, under the title “and Bayer”, and filming her in the form of a video clip, in a move that the artist considered an infringement of her rights amid the silence of the company.
