Amid the political discussions that mark the national agenda, the Minister of the Interior, Juan Fernando Christhas reaffirmed the president’s intention Gustavo Petro to implement a mechanism known as fast track.

The main objective of this initiative is to accelerate the implementation of the peace agreement signed with the FARC and to advance government reforms.

The fast track, according to Cristo, seeks to facilitate the rapid adoption of legislative measures necessary to consolidate the key points of the peace agreement.

This proposal has generated debate and speculation about its implications, especially with regard to the validity of the direct seats assigned to ex-combatants and the transitional constituencies for victims.

In response to the concerns expressed, the minister has clarified that there are no plans to extend the term of these seats beyond the eight years established by the National Constitution. “That is not contemplated in any way”Cristo said, emphasizing that President Petro’s real focus is to accelerate the effective implementation of the peace agreement.

Cristo explained that the proposed plan would include a clear definition of the investments to be made in the territories affected by the conflict, as well as improvements in the execution and coordination between government and territorial entities.

In addition, the aim would be to identify critical points that require specific legal reforms to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of the agreement.
