Joshua Duerksen finished thousandths of a second off pole position in Austria

Paraguayan Formula 2 driver Joshua Duerksen shined on the Red Bull Ring track and was just eight thousandths of a second away from winning first place in the qualifying race at the Spielblerg circuit in Austria.

Joshua Duerksen had been chewing up his anger since Barcelona, when an engine problem in his AIX car left him on the sidelines as he was leading the feature race of the sixth round. Just five days later, the Paraguayan achieved a historic second place in the classification.

“P2 in the race, 0.008 short of pole. We did a great job with the team and this is a more than deserved reward. Happy to start on the front row on Sunday, now the focus is on tomorrow’s sprint” wrote the driver on his social networks.

The president of the republic, Santiago Peña, celebrated the fact and congratulated Duerksen for the classification. “A pride for all Paraguayans, on Sunday we will be accompanying you,” the president wrote on the social network X.

The feature race will be held this Saturday and Duerksen will have to fight back because he will start 11th due to the inversion of the grid for the top 12 as established by the category regulations.
