Former Civil Housing Minister José Dirceu defended Lula’s (PT) re-election and is determined to return to the public debate in an interview with CNN Brasil.
“I will now start speaking in public. Starting this year I will participate in public debate,” he said, after saying he had no expectations from joining the current PT government.
The former minister also explained his plan for progressive forces to have a lasting cycle at the helm of governments and expressed confidence in the event that the current President of the Republic decides to run again. “In 2026 we will re-elect Lula,” he said.
The interview was given by Dirceu to the journalistic director of the station’s Brasilia branch, Daniel Rittner, and to the presenter Tainá Falcão. On Thursday (25th), starting at 11pm, the special “CNN interviews with José Dirceu” will be broadcast.
