José Armando, a boy from Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, touched thousands with his story of courage in giving up his chemotherapy treatments. From his perspective, he prefers to enjoy the time he has left to live rather than undergo painful treatments and stay in the hospital indefinitely.

But who really is José Armando, the 14-year-old boy who gives up chemotherapy to enjoy life? He was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the young age of 5 years old. The little boy fought a battle against cancer, undergoing more than 120 chemotherapy sessions throughout his life.

José’s fight against the disease seemed to have yielded positive results until October 2023, when the cancer returned stronger, forcing him to restart more aggressive treatment.

However, in an act of profound courage, beyond his young age, José made the decision not to undergo further chemotherapy. Instead, he seeks to enjoy the time he has left with his family and friends.

José Armando wants to “enjoy life”

Amidst the support and solidarity, José managed to fulfill one of his biggest dreams: celebrate his 14th birthday at home, surrounded by his classmates, instead of in a hospital as in previous years. The celebration took place at the “Nicolás Bravo” Telesecundaria of Xalapa, where his classmates sang the “mañanitas” and shared the cake.

But José doesn’t stop there. His resilient spirit and desire to live are manifested in his last wish: to meet the players of his favorite team, Cruz Azul. For this reason, social media users began to share his story so that the little one can meet his celestial heroes and enjoy one of the “machine” matches.
