Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo will no longer receive a lung transplant

Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, Renowned Mexican producer and actor, has faced multiple health problems in recent years. Known for his work in the series “A Family of Ten”, a few weeks ago he revealed that he has already preparing for a double lung transplant after having overcome two episodes of cancer.

However, he recently announced that the procedure was suspended due to medical complications that could be life-threatening. Ortiz de Pinedo shared with the press that his transplant was canceled at the last minute due to a liver problem detected in his blood.

The actor had confessed months before that his lungs were severely damaged after the removal of cancerous tumors. In hopes of improving his quality of life, He was scheduled to receive a lung transplant. However, doctors discovered a liver problem that complicated the procedure.

“I was about to receive it, but they discovered a problem I had in my liver, that is, in my blood, and they had to stop everything. (They said) ‘stop the machines, there is a danger there, if we do the transplant, we could cause tremendous anemia and he could die.’”

The doctors told him to proceed with the transplant could cause severe anemia, which could be fatal.

Despite the cancellation of the transplant, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo is in a recovery process. Doctors have been working to cure his liver problem and eliminate the anemia, allowing the actor to feel better again.

“What the doctors have done to me now is to cure that problem that I had, which is very dangerous, because it is a cell mutation, which caused me years ago when they did chemotherapy, so now they have removed my anemia, I am already good again.”

The actor continues to use an oxygen tank to be able to breathe without complications when traveling to Mexico City. In the interview, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo indicated that he is willing to undergo all the necessary tests to be able to receive the lung transplant as soon as possible.

“Do all the tests again, and if I’m fine, go ahead, because it’s not worth changing the monoblock of a car if the chassis is no longer useful.”
