Jonathan was crowned 2024 Asian champion after defeating Li Shi Feng from China in the top match. Taking place at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Sunday (14/4/2024) evening WIB, Jonathan appeared mighty.
In front of the home crowd, Jonathan was able to beat Li in two straight games. He won with a score of 21-15 and 21-16 in 54 minutes.
Jonathan did not expect this victory. He feels grateful to be a champion again after winning the All England 2024.
“First of all, praise God. I didn’t expect to win again after winning All England yesterday,” said Jonatan, in a PBSI press statement, Sunday (14/4/2024).
This positive result could be an encouragement for Jonathan. Moreover, he will be looking at the 2024 Paris Olympics which will take place in July-August 2024.
“This could be a booster for me personally so that in the future I can be more consistent and better in terms of performance and everything,” he continued.
“I dedicate this first title to God first, because this victory is also thanks to God,” continued Jonathan.
“Next to my family, wife, mother, father, grandmother, coach, support team, PBSI who have really helped my development so far, and the Indonesian badminton supporters who have never stopped praying. Thank you all,” he concluded.
