Jokowi and Ma’ruf Amin scheduled Eid prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque

JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin together with a number of cabinet ministers are scheduled to hold Eid al-Fitr (Id) prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on 1 Shawwal 1445 Hijriah.

Public Relations of the Istiqlal Mosque, Safar, confirmed this. “If there are (Id Prayer plans) for RI 1 and RI 2, usually the ministers will also be present,” said Safar when confirmed by MNC Portal Indonesia, Tuesday (9/4/2024).

Safar said that as a form of preparation for the night of takbiran and Eid prayers, which were planned to be attended by President Jokowi and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, a meeting would be held first today.

“Today there will be a general committee meeting. Maybe later there will be a press release. There is no information yet on the time, whether it is morning or afternoon,” he explained.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted that he would celebrate Eid in Jakarta. Eid al-Fitr 2024 will be his last term as President of the Republic of Indonesia.

“(Eid) in Jakarta,” said Jokowi at Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta, Monday (8/4/2024).

Jokowi said that he would also carry out Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque.

“More or less, God willing (Eid prayers at Istiqlal),” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin confirmed that he would hold an open house on the first day of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah. The open house will be held until the time of Zuhr Prayers.

The Vice President said that before holding the open house he would carry out Eid prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta as in previous years. “I pray at Istiqlal every year, I’m like that,” he said while attending an event at the Syariah Tower, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2, Tangerang, Banten, Tuesday (2/4/2024).
