Joe Biden calls Donald Trump after second assassination attempt

US President Joe Biden called former President Donald Trump on Monday to express his solidarity over the second assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate and to discuss his safety.

“President Biden just spoke with former President Trump and expressed his relief at being safe.”the White House said in a brief statement.

Both politicians had “a cordial conversation” y Trump “expressed his gratitude for the call”the same source detailed.

For his part, Trump said that they had a “very nice call” and which dealt with the protection that the Republican receives from the Secret Service.

Biden managed to speak to Trump hours after an initial attempt in which he was unable to reach the Republican, who was not available.

Authorities on Sunday arrested Ryan Routh, a man suspected of attempting to assassinate Trump with an assault rifle at a golf course owned by the New York magnate in Palm Beach, Florida.

This is the second assassination attempt on Trump during his campaign for the November 5 presidential election, after a man shot him in July during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, wounding him in the right ear.

Trump blamed the US on Monday “lies” of his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, already “the rhetoric of the communist left” of his new murder attempt.
