A few weeks before the 2025 Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Abu Dhabi, Malagasy athletes are intensifying their preparation with determination. The delegation aims to shine on the international scene despite limited resources.

As the World Championship approaches, scheduled for November 12, 2025 in Abu Dhabi, Malagasy fighters are intensifying their preparation. The Analamanga League, as leader, is launching a series of Open Mats, training sessions open to all clubs in the region, to refine techniques and strengthen cohesion. The first meeting is scheduled for next Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Checkmat dojo.

Reissue the exploit

Last year, Madagascar achieved a remarkable performance in Abu Dhabi by rising to 22nd place out of 95 nations, winning two gold medals and one bronze in the Men’s Gi White category. The medalists were Tafita Rafidinomena, Bigjee Chafik and Christian Niriniaina Ranaivomanana. This year, ambitions are being raised, driven by a new generation of fighters. The international Smoothcomp platform already displays the names of several Malagasy representatives. In the amateur category, Bryan Rasamy Anoharana will line up in the men’s blue belt -62 kg gi. Among the professionals, Andy Rasamy Anoharana will fight in brown belt gi -77 kg. On the youth side, Aiky Rajaoson (-66 kg, blue belt) and Nofy Chuk Hen Shun (-57 kg, blue belt) will defend the national colors. In Master 1, Rina Wilson Razakarisoa, purple belt, ranked number 1 in Madagascar and 11th in Africa, will represent the Malagasy elite. The Abu Dhabi Festival will also see the participation of six young talents under the age of 15: Diary Nekena Ralalaharisoa, Mazas Aintsara Itiela, Lucie Herizaka Nirina, Idealisoa Ranaivomanana, Mazas Aintsara Enoka and Ando Mahasoa Ranarivelo. The majority of them play within the Checkmat club, a veritable breeding ground for champions.

Self-financing

This season, Andy Rasamy Anoharana has already opened the medal count by winning a precise silver medal at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in May. A performance that sets the tone and fuels hopes of a world podium. The Malagasy Jiu-Jitsu Federation calls for the mobilization of local clubs to support this dynamic. The Malagasy delegation will travel to the United Arab Emirates thanks to self-financing, supported by the athletes’ families and private sponsors. The Federation would like to express its deep gratitude to this essential support.
