Jirama recovery: first exchanges between the ministry and the employees

The Ministry of Energy and Jirama employees agree that the recovery of Jirama must be done in the interest of the population.

The standoff between the striking employees of the Jirama and the authorities is about to resolve through a dialogue. A first meeting was held in the evening of July 9 at the Jirama headquarters in Ambohijatovo avaratra, between the delegation led by the Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons, Olivier Jean-Baptiste, and the representatives of the Crown Company, composed of the Director General, of the managers of various services and the union leaders representing the employees. This meeting made it possible to tackle the new status of Jirama and the contours of the recovery plan. The concerns and questions of the employees were put on the table, in a climate of listening and consultation. The two parties have agreed that dialogue and consultation will remain essential in the next stages of the process, in order to find lasting solutions. According to the two parties, the recovery of the Jirama must be done in the interest of the company, its employees, but also, and above all, the Malagasy population which depends daily on water and electricity services.
